Recardo A. "Ricky" DeJesus, a 30 year resident of North Andover and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Monday, June 19, 2017. He was 78 years of age.
Ricky was born in Boston on November 3, 1938, a son of the late Domingo DeJesus and Ernestine (Von Kahle) DeJesus. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Boston Trade High School for Boys. Ricky entered into the United States Marine Corps on December 7, 1956 and served with honor and pride until he was honorably discharged on December 4, 1959 with the rank of Lance Corporal. Ricky worked as a building and bridge mechanic for the Boston and Maine Railroad Company and the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company for 40 years until his retirement.
Ricky is the beloved husband of 20 years to the late Marie J. (Snow) DeJesus. He is the devoted father of Christina Hughes and her husband Tom, and Derrick Dejesus. He is the loving step-father of Sharon Saverse and her husband Atom, Bruce Durand and his wife Catherine, Deborah Barbusin and her husband Peter, and David Durand and his wife Lisa. He is the loving Papa to 14 grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of Mary Gonzales, Ernestine Nocon, and the late Alicia MacDonald, Virginia Wachoski, and Domingo DeJesus. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ricky's Funeral on Saturday June 24, 2017 at 9 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. CHARLESTOWN followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. His visiting hours will be Friday June 23, 2017 from 4- 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
