Peter F. Fanara, age 92, of Woburn formerly of Somerville passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading following period of declining health. He was the beloved husband for 41 years of the late Cherie (Reaves) Fanara who passed away in 2001. Born in Aragona, Italy, he was the son of the late Alfonse and Stefanie (Graceffa) Fanara.
Peter was a graduate of Brighton High School and worked for many years as a talented industrial machinist. His family was his greatest joy and he loved spending time with them. He also enjoyed playing golf, bowling, crossword puzzles, telling jokes, playing cards and most of all, gardening.
In addition to his late wife and parents, Peter is sadly predeceased by his brother; Nick Fanara and sister; Anne Rizzo.
He is lovingly survived by his devoted daughter, CarolAnn Mahoney and her husband Michael of Woburn. He was the loving grandfather of Mary (Mahoney) Asch, Michael Mahoney, Aaron Asch and Bianca Zarba. Brother of Rose Anzaldi of Watertown and is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Friday, June 23rd, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
