Obituary

Elinor Agnes Huddleston Huppert was born in Santa Paula, California, on October 18, 1923, and died on June 18, 2017, in Ventura, California. Elinor was the first of three daughters born to Katharine McKenzie Ritchie Huddleston and John Quincy Huddleston. She grew up in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties and was proud of her roots in both places. After graduating from Fillmore High School (class of 1941), she attended Ventura College and later graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara, Riviera campus. She also received her teaching credential from UCSB and taught elementary school in Santa Paula and Oxnard. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Charles Huppert , and her sister, Mary Louise Huddleston Basolo. In addition to her daughters, Marianne Susan Newman (Mike) and Katherine Huppert Romasanta, Elinor is survived by her sister, Patricia Ann Huddleston Dickenson, her five grandchildren, one great grandson, and her beloved nieces and nephews . When they moved back to Ventura after Joe retired, Elinor became active in the Ventura chapter of St. Anne’s and made many wonderful friends. She enjoyed holidays with her family, cooking, dining, gardening, playing bridge, Scottie dogs, shopping, reading, solving crossword puzzles, Super Bowl parties, watching “Jeopardy” on TV, and following sports, especially golf and Angels’ baseball, in the newspaper. Her family would like to thank Dr. Bruce Woodling and the staff at Ventura Post Acute (“The Californian”) for the care and attention Elinor received in her last year of life. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service to be held at 10:00 am Saturday, July 8th, in the Chapel of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME, Ventura, with a lunch reception to follow.
