Obituary

Joseph Scott “Bow Bow” Brandon, of Northampton, shuffled off this mortal coil June 13, 2017 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Hyannis 44 years ago, Scott grew up in Taunton but found his home in Northampton. Known as “Bow Bow” to his friends, Scott was quick-witted and had a wickedly sarcastic sense of humor. After graduating from Taunton High School in 1990, he worked as a chef, kitchen manager, musician, audio engineer, producer, and haiku poet. He was a voracious reader and lover of records, travel, good food and drink. Music found Scott at an early age; starting with the trumpet, he soon developed into a talented multi-instrumentalist who was equally at ease on the bass as he was behind a piano. As a young man he dreamed of becoming a professional musician, a dream fulfilled as he spent years touring the world playing bass and trumpet with his band the Drunk Stuntmen. He leaves in his wake an untold number of empty Jack Daniels bottles and thousands of rocked crowds. Scott’s greatest fans are his mother and father, Susan (Drewniany) Brandon and the late Michael Brandon of Taunton. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Faulkner of Taunton, his brother Adam Brandon of Somerset, his grandfather Joseph Drewniany of Taunton, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, a nephew, and a worldwide family of friends and fans. All are invited to celebrate Scott’s life Sunday June 25th, 2:00-4:00pm at Okeefe-Wade funeral home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Scott’s name to the Northampton Arts Council at www.northamptonartscouncil.org.
