Obituary

Herbert A. Marden, Jr., 66, of Fairhaven died June 18, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Herbert A. Marden and Virginia (Baker) Lucio, he lived in New Bedford before moving to Fairhaven.
He was formerly employed as a fish cutter at several local fish houses until his retirement.
Mr. Marden was an elder of the Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe.
He enjoyed nature, the beach, the sea, playing poker and cribbage, spaghetti dinners, apple pie, sports and the company of his dog Sweet Pea.
Survivors include the love of his life, Marie Viegas of Fairhaven; a daughter, Veronica "Roni" Marden and her wife Dawn Marden of Fall River; a step-daughter, Mary Lou Baumgartner of Fairhaven; 3 brothers, Jeffrey Marden of Dartmouth, Gary "Michael" Marden of Maine and Phillip Marden of New Bedford; 3 sisters, Diane Pacheco and Carol Williams, both of Acushnet and Tanya Marden of New Bedford; 2 grandchildren, Seth and Rylie Baumgartner; 2 great-grandchildren, Noah and Everly Baumgartner; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Robert Marden.
His visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 21st from 3-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
