Martha A . McDevitt, 83, of Swan Road, Smithfield, died Friday, June 16, 2017 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the widow of John J. McDevitt. They were married for 64 years before his death in 2015.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Vera (DeAngelis) Jaswell. She had lived in Smithfield since 1975 and had previously lived in Pawtucket.
She had worked at Jaswell Farm in Smithfield.
She is survived by her sons: John J. McDevitt and his wife, Linda of Scituate, Daniel P. McDevitt and his wife, Leslie, of Smithfield, Kenneth J. McDevitt and his wife, Linda, her seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, her brother, Richard Jaswell and his wife, Pat of Smithfield, and her sister Comella Jaswell and her husband, Anthony of Smithfield. She was the mother of the late Michael McDevitt.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:30am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be held at 9:30 in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Visitation Monday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
