Obituary



Bernard Leo Archambault, 90, of Cortland Place in Greenville, died June 14, 2017 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. He was the husband of his beloved wife of sixty seven years, Lucille (Beaudoin) Archambault. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Louis Gaston and Justine Dora (Guilbault) Archambault. Barney served in the Navy during WWII from 1944-1946 on the USS Braxton and the USS Burdo as a seaman 1st class. After being discharged from the Navy he received his GED from Woonsocket High School. He was ordained a permanent deacon in the Catholic Church, Diocese of Providence on June 16, 1977. Dec. Archambault served as a deacon throughout the Greater Woonsocket area including St. Josephs Parish, St. Anthony’s Parish, Woonsocket Hospital, and Mt. St. Francis Health Centre. He worked as a carpenter foreman for Bryant College for seventeen years. He later worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Woonsocket Housing Authority for five years. Barney was an avid golfer, he also enjoyed fishing, cooking and was very proud of his rose garden.

Besides his wife he leaves his son Joseph B. Archambault and wife Francine of Johnston, daughter Rachel Pezza and husband Mark of North Smithfield, two granddaughters Rebecca Thurber of Westerly, and Jessica Thurber Boucher and husband Raymond of Madrid, Spain, a brother Roger Archambault and wife Corana of WA, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Lucien “Al” Archambault, Lucy Rivet, Gerald Archambault, and Yvonne Peloquin.

His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:30 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Monday 4-8 PM.
