Judith Rae Mason, 74, of Ventura, California, passed away suddenly on June 16, 2017, in Ventura. Judy was born in Kearney, Nebraska to David and Lillian (Lancaster) Hirschfeld. She went to high school at Kearney High and graduated in 1959. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in counseling from Azusa Pacific University and a master’s degree in psychology from CSU Northridge. She enjoyed riding horses with her beloved husband Martin (Tuck) Mason, traveling the world to exotic places, her tai-chi classes and classmates, weight-lifting and dancing with the seniors, cooking Tuck’s favorite meals, beating him at golf, and questioning authority. Judy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Tuck Mason, her daughters Jodi Starbird and Michelle Mason, her son Jeffrey Mason, her sons-in-law Drew Starbird and Bob Bledsoe, grandsons Mason (Maria), Dylan (Amanda), and Weston (Kandace) Starbird, and her great-granddaughter Lillian G. Starbird. She is preceded in death by her parents, David and Lillian. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Turning Point Foundation (turningpointfoundation.org). The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the kind and caring staff at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura.
