Richard W. Lusby, of Londonderry, NH, passed away June 14, 2017, after a period of declining health. Richard was born December 14, 1943 in Aberdeen, Mississippi to Donald and Emateen (Haney) Lusby. He was raised in both MS and AZ, graduating High School in Aberdeen. After High School Richard joined the U.S. Air Force where he served as an airborne radar technician on the C-121 Constellation. He was stationed at Otis AFB, Cape Cod, MA. While there he met his wife of 51 years, Gail Greenan. They settled first on Cape Cod moving to NH after Richard separated from the AF in 1971. Richard and Gail moved from NH to Woburn MA where they lived for many years. They also lived in AZ for several years before once again retuning to NH.
In his Air Force time Richard had the opportunity to travel around the world. His favorite places seemed to be Iceland and the Philippines which he spoke of often. After the Air Force Richard worked as a field service technician servicing main frame computer systems for Honeywell, and later Bull Information Systems. He was a “computer guy“ before most of the world knew what computers were. He purchased his first home computer in 1984 and later had a mainframe in his basement office (none of us are really sure what he was doing with that, hacking Russia perhaps?) Richard enjoyed working on cars, and long family road trips which included many Massachusetts to MS or AZ drives for summer vacations. He also enjoyed old western and sci fi movies and would never pass up a glass of red wine. He was a loving husband, and father, but the greatest role of his life was that of Grandpa to 11 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife Gail (Greenan), their four children and families: Darrell and his wife Terry Sue (Houston, TX) and three children, Ryan Lusby and his wife Kay and their daughter Madison (Nashua, NH), Shane Lusby and his fiancée Kelsey (Nashua, NH), and Layla Lusby (Houston, TX); Dyan and her husband Kevin McClamma (Beavercreek, OH) and their four children Zack and wife Lauren (Enon, OH), Jesse, Grace , and Devin McClamma; Dwayne and his wife Demi (Houston, TX) and daughter Chloe Lusby; Dawn and her husband Joe Lacerda (Londonderry, NH) and three children Gavin, Brighton and James Lacerda.
Calling hours were held on Monday, June 19, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A memorial service followed in the funeral home at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Richards name to St. Jude Crèche Fund, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH 03053.
