Belva I. Wanat, 105

Dateline: Taunton, MA

Belva I. (Campbell) Wanat, age 105, of Taunton, passed away peacefully, following a well-lived life, on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the Life Care Center in Raynham. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Wanat and the late Verle Norris.

Born in Lacona, Iowa on September 13, 1911, she was a loving daughter of the late Hugh and Bertha (Oxenreider) Campbell.

Belva grew up and was educated in Lacona, and was a graduate of Lacona High School. She continued her educating graduating from cosmetology school and at the age of 72, furthered her education again, receiving her certificate as certified nursing assistant.

She retired from private duty as a certified nursing assistant in 1989. To Belva, retirement didn’t mean sitting at home on the couch. She actively volunteered her time at Morton Hospital in Taunton and in 2001 at age 90, was presented with the hospitals volunteer of the year award.

A resident of Taunton for over twenty-five years, she formerly resided in Fort Pierce, Florida and for twenty-five years in Alaska. Belva will always be remembered for her charitable nature and generosity. She supported several churches in Taunton and in her spare time loved siting down to a good book.

She was the devoted mother of Dr. Ronald V. Norris and his wife Kumi of North Andover and the late Micki Englund and Kevin Norris. She was pre-deceased by her dear 3 brothers and 1 sister. She is also survived by her cherished and adoring 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Private burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce, Florida and visitation has been omitted.
