Obituary

Thomas Robert Abbey, 80, Anderson, passed away June 11, 2017, at Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 20, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, to Thomas and Thelma Rounds Abbey, graduating from Cass Technical High School.
Tom served in the Indiana National Guard.
Tom attended Anderson College, where he met Norma Dreger of North Ridgeville, Ohio. They were married August 20, 1960 in Cleveland, Ohio. Working at Delco Remy, he became a journeyman toolmaker working for General Motors in Anderson and Marion 40 years. He also worked their 65- acre farm.
Tom liked to travel, especially to Mackinac Island, Michigan, home of his mother's family, where he lived for a year as a boy and spent many summers. He enjoyed breakfasts and golf with fellow Delco Remy retirees.
He attended Park Place Church of God, where he served on several committees, enjoyed singing in the choir, and contributed many hours to restoring the Park Place Community Center.
He's survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Norma; his three children, Kristen (Joe) Royer of Plainfield,, Jon Abbey of Anderson and Kara (Alan) Bilbrey of Noblesville, six grandchildren, Braden, Tye, Lily and Brenna Royer and Kalan and Alara Bilbrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his half brother, Duane Pharis.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Park Place Church of God with Dr. Fredrick Shively and Dr. David Coolidge officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.
Memorial contributions may be given to Park Place Community Center.
