Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Denis “Denny” O’Shea, 81, a longtime resident of Parallel Street in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, June 10, 2017. He passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at East Longmeadow surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born on January 4, 1936 in Dingle, County Kerry, Ireland, a beloved son of the late Michael W. and Mary (Griffin) O’Shea. He was raised in Dingle and came to Springfield in 1958. He was employed for many years at the New England Container Company in Chicopee and the Hampden County Hall of Justice in Springfield. He was last employed at Saint Michael Cemetery in Springfield. He leaves two sisters, Hanna Murphy of Keelerih, Ventry, Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland and Maureen Murphy and her husband, Timothy, of Bronx, NY; a sister-in-law, Philomena O’Shea of Keelerih, Ventry, Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland; and several nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen Brick and her husband, Tom; two brothers, William O’Shea and John O’Shea and his wife, Frances; a niece, Mary Theresa Brick; a nephew, Dennis Michael O’Shea; and a brother-in-law, Maurice Murphy. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Saint Patrick Cemetery, 168 Fuller Road, Chicopee, MA 01020.
