Obituary

Alvin W. Tripp, 92, of Westport died Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Brandon Woods of New Bedford. He was the husband of Arline M. (Wordell) Tripp, to whom he was married since 1948.

Born in Westport, son of the late Willis L. and Helen E. (Wall) Tripp, he was a lifelong resident of Westport. Until retirement, he was the owner of ALRU Farm in Westport along with his brother. He was a founding member of the Westport Fair, which started in 1955; a member of the Cooperative Milk Producers Association; the Young Farmers of America and the Westport Grange, where he was Past Master. An avid vegetable and flower gardener, he enjoyed biking and walking around South Westport. Mr. Tripp also enjoyed ballroom dancing at Lincoln Park, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Including his wife, survivors include a son: Bradley A. Tripp and his wife Pauline of Canajoharie, NY; 3 daughters: Carin L. Wehrmeister and her husband David of Westport, Judith L. Harvester and her husband Stephen of Westfield, MA and Wendy A. Furtado and her husband Joseph of Westport; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Linwood, Howard, Willis, Russell, Carl and Ernest Tripp and Edith Traganza.

Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Westport Point United Methodist Church, Westport Point at 10:00 A.M.

Calling hours Friday 5 - 8 P.M. at the Potter Funeral Home.

Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
