Obituary

David W. Opie, 90 of Danvers, passed away unexpectedly at the Beverly Hospital with his family by his side on Wednesday, June 7, 2017. He was the devoted husband of Jacqueline E. (Gingras) Opie with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late William R. and Irene (Waldman) Opie. A veteran of World War II, he served with the Army in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign and in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign. Following the war he returned to Lynn and continued his education, earning his Degree in Accounting from Boston University in 1950. He taught various subjects at Lynn English High School and later at Waltham High School. David also did taxes and accounting out of his home.
David was an avid sports fan and voracious reader

In addition to his wife Jaquie, he is survived by two sons, Thomas D. Opie of Galena, OH, John M Opie of Danvers, three grandchildren, John Opie of Danvers, Lauren Harmon of Lakeville, Minnesota, Kevin Opie of Minnesota as well as two great-granddaughters, Sadie and Elle. He was predeceased by his son, Stephen R. Opie.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 10:00 to 12:00 PM for visiting hours, with his memorial service to begin at 12 noon. Committal Services of his ashes will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers.
