Demetra “Ditty” Applebaum
Manchester– Demetra (Angelides) Applebaum, 88, died June 9, 2017 at Maple Leaf Healthcare Center following a brief illness.
She was born in Manchester on December 21, 1928 the daughter of Stelios and Anna Haje (Argeriou) Angelides.
She was a graduate of Manchester Central High School.
Prior to her retirement she worked at various retail stores throughout Manchester.
She was known for her home style food that was to die for.
She had one final phone comrade, Kay Mitchell whom she shared Jumble, Crypto and Crosswords.
She was predeceased by her husband, Elliot Applebaum, 3 brothers, Angelo, Keith, Paul and 4 sisters, Katy, Amelia, Annie and Elsie.
Family members include, 1 son, L.B. Applebaum of Manchester, 2 daughters, Amy Perle and her husband, Larry “Lorenzo” of Laguna Hills, CA., Anna Linn and her husband, Andrew of Dennis, MA, 4 grandchildren, Sam Perle, Leah Perle, Rebecca Linn, Emily Linn, 1 great grandson, Beckett Perle and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial reception will take place on Wednesday, June 14th from 1 to 3 PM at J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St.
The family would like to thank the entire Maple Leaf Healthcare community from the housekeepers to the maintenance staff and especially chef Tammy.
