Obituary

Charles A. Hurray, 97, of Windham, NH, formerly of Derry, passed away Wednesday June 7, 2017 at his residence at Windham Terrace, after a period of declining health. Charles was born November 18, 1919 in Crafton, PA and was a son of the late Charles A., Sr. and Gertrude (Winter) Hurray. He was raised and educated in N. Avalon, PA and resided in Gibsonia, PA and Derry, NH for many years prior to moving to Windham two and a half years ago.

Mr. Hurray served in the US Army during WW II. After the war, Charles began his career at Leeds & Northrup Co., where he worked for over 30 years as a Field Service Engineer for their Industrial Control Products. Charles was an avid Ham radio operator and loved to fix things of all types. He loved the outdoors and watching wildlife.

Members of the family include his daughter and her husband, Marsha and Jim Praught of Scottsdale AZ, his son and his wife, Joseph and Wendy Hurray, of Sandown, NH, and his daughter and her husband, Suzanne and John Schultheis of Hampstead, NH. Six grandchildren, Landon, Kitty, Holly, Andrew, Gregory, and Jennifer, two great grandchildren, Kitten and Mia. Mr. Hurray was predeceased by his beloved wife of 74 years, Dorothy C. (Farmin) Hurray in 2014. He was also predeceased by his brother, George Hurray and three sisters, Anne Rusbasan, Gertrude Sikora and Adrienne Wonderling.

Private services are being planned by the family. The Peabody Funeral Home and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street Derry, NH, is assisting the family. Donations in Mr. Hurray’s memory may be made to: NH Food Bank, 700 E. Industrial Park Drive. Manchester, NH 03109.
