Obituary

Alexander H. Kosmenko 91, of Franklin, died Tuesday June 6, 2017 at Milford Regional Medical Center, following an illness. He was the beloved husband of Marion E. (Willis) Kosmenko, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.

Born August 23, 1925 in Needham, a son of the late Michael and Barbara (Bunarovitch) Kosmenko, he was formerly of Needham and California before moving to Franklin in 1963.

He was raised and educated in Needham, and was a retired foreman, having worked for the former SW Industry Company, a sporting goods manufacturer in Newton.

A proud American, he served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII attaining the rank of Private First Class, he was honorably discharged in March of 1944.

An active young man he worked as a caddy at Woodland Golf Club in Newton and was an avid speed skater, who competed at the Olympic trials that were held in the Boston Garden.

Alexander was a devoted family man, who enjoyed fishing, camping, nature, the beach, all animals and was an avid golfer. His most treasured moments were that of going to dinner and dancing with his wife.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Howard A. and his wife Karin (Cushman) Kosmenko of Wrentham, Karin M. Kosmenko of Newton, Daniel E. Kosmenko of Franklin, Pamela J. DesMarais of Blackstone, Marlene E. Cusson of Franklin and Warren W. Kosmenko of Franklin, a brother Walter and his wife Pauline Kosmenko of Maine.

Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

He was the father of the late Kenneth W. Kosmenko, Angie B. Fontenarosa, grandfather of the late Vannessa M. Cusson and brother of the late Mary Harukewicz, Olga Waitkunas, Constantine, Wesley, John and Michael Kosmenko

At Alexander’s request, there will be no calling hours and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
