Andrea Y. Zike, 66, of Mystic died Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at her home. She was born in New York on January 16, 1951, the daughter of Andrew and Eva (Puschak) Yackovetsky.
She was a reading and elementary school teacher in the Groton public school system for 17 years, retiring in 2012. Prior to teaching, she was a dog breeder and specializied in showing dachshunds professionally.
Andrea loved scrapbooking and was an avid knitter.
She is survived by her two children, Aaron Zike of Ticoma, Washington and Amanda Koestner of Southbury and her grandchildren, Caitlin Koestner and Gianna Zike. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Mary Ann Gaskin.
Andrea's family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, June 11, from 3 to 5pm with a funeral service immediately following at 5:00 at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. Burial will be private for the family.
