FALL RIVER… Maria G. (Silva) Sousa, 66, of Fall River passed away Saturday, June 3rd at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boston.
Born in Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Jose and Maria De Espirito Santo (Melo) Silva. She moved to Fall River about 45 years ago.
Mrs. Sousa was a communicant of Santo Christo Church and was a devout Catholic. She enjoyed going to church feasts, knitting and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters; Ana DeSa of Fall River and Fatima Sousa of N. Dartmouth, her sons; Abel Sousa & Kevin Sousa, both of Fall River, 4 sisters; Eduarda Soares of Fall River, Conceicao Jesus of Fall River, Maria De Deus Furtado of Swansea & Maria F. Silva of Tiverton, 3 brothers; Antonio Silva of Fall River, Manuel Silva of Swansea & Fernando Silva of Somerset, 8 grandchildren; Jacob, Austin, Tori, Savannah, Nevaeh, Juliana, Lina & Toby, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Monday, June 19th at 8 AM from South Coast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant St. Fall River, MA 02723, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia St. Fall River. Inurnment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Sunday, June 18th from 5 to 8 PM.
