Obituary

Donna M. (Calabrese) DePippo, 65, of Haverhill, was called to our Lord on June 5, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

Donna was born on July 9, 1951 to her hardworking parents, Frank and Elizabeth "Lucille" (Ricard) Calabrese in Washington D. C. Shortly after her birth, her parents relocated back to the Merrimack Valley and settled in Lawrence, MA. Donna attended school at Sacred Heart in Lawrence, graduating with the Class of 1969. After high school, she attended the MacIntosh Business School and tried her hand in the real estate market. As someone who recognized the need for a secondary education, Donna began her lifelong career at UMass Lowell as a Registered Nurse. The words of selflessness, compassion, and true devotion can only describe the integrity of her character. Donna brought all of those traits into the many facets of her life from being a nurse, mother and grandmother. She was a person who always saw the positive outcomes of life’s trials and tribulations. Donna’s career in nursing spanned many different places to where her unwavering care and spirit was the cornerstone to her dedicated work ethic. Her smiling face could be found roaming the halls of Lawrence General, working as a home health nurse for the Visiting Nurse Association, always the one to pick up a forgotten prescription or to run the occasional errand with no hesitation whatsoever and thus finally retiring at the Baker-Katz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Haverhill. Donna’s selflessness was truly evident when she would pick up the occasional stray cat and was the type of person who would give you the shirt off of her back. Donna had a true passion for gardening and always had a love for her flowers. As a mother and grandmother, she would always ensure that her family was of the utmost priority. The DePippo family would like to personally thank the kind and caring staff at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House for their dignified compassionate care for Donna. Donna touched many lives and she will truly be missed.

Donna is survived by her two devoted and loving children; her son, Matthew and his wife Leah DePippo of Hampton, NH, and her daughter, Amanda and her husband Michael Calthorpe of Tyngsboro, MA. She was the proud grandmother to her three cherished grandchildren; Nicholas, Molly and Zachary DePippo. Donna was the cherished sister to Elaine and her husband Zig Woronko of Haverhill, MA, her sister, Gail Calabrese of Methuen, MA, her sister, Michele and her husband Christopher Levesque of Methuen, MA, and her sister-in-law, Patricia Calabrese of Wolfboro, NH. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Frank Calabrese, Jr.
