Jean E. Nelson, 88, of Epping, NH and formerly of Berlin, passed away on Tuesday June 6, 2017 at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover. She was born in Berlin on January 22, 1929 the daughter of Philip “Babe” and Laura (Gilbert) Smyth and lived most of her life in Berlin, moving to Epping in November of 2008. Jean had been employed by Granite State Rubber Company and lastly by Rite Aid in Berlin. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Family includes her husband Harold D. Nelson of Epping, NH; children Lisa Nelson of New York, NY, Denise (Nelson) Kalagher of Lancaster, MA and her husband Jack, Philip Nelson of Boston, MA; Daughter In-Law Priscilla Nelson; grandchildren Lori (Nelson) Wassung and her husband Edward, Sherri Nelson, Brett Nelson, and Vicki Nelson; 6 great grandchildren Caitlin, Allison, Eric, Nicholas, Kyle, and Timothy; niece Freda Hawkinson of Manchester, NH and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Marie Hawkinson and son Richard (Dickie) Nelson.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday June 9, 2017 at 3 PM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. Interment will be at a later date in St. Kieran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 1 to 3 PM, prior to the service.
