Mylo V. Johnson, 95, of Berlin, died peacefully at home with family members by his side on Monday June 5, 2017. He was born in Berlin on March 29, 1922, the son of Hilmar A. and Elise C. (Dahlsing) Johnson and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Berlin High School in 1940, from UNH in 1950 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and from Boston University in May of 1969 with his Master’s Degree in Social Work. Mylo had been employed by the State of NH for 35 years with the Department of Health and Human Services, working in both direct services and later in a supervisory capacity as a regional director covering the Berlin, Littleton & Conway offices. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and a past member of the Ryan-Scammon Post #36 American Legion and the White Mountain Post #2520 VFW. He was a US Army Veteran of WW2, serving in the Philippines from 1942-1946. Mylo enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry, walks around the Norwegian village and time spent with family. He will be remembered for his commitment to the service of others and dedication to his family.
Family includes his children Eric Johnson and wife Louise of Berlin, NH, Inga Johnson of Easton, NH and Elsa Johnson-Carr and husband Charles Carr of Bristol, NH; grandchildren Melissa Johnson and husband Jon Blais of Keene, NH and Maria Jacques and husband Kyle Jacques of Deerfield, NH; in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Janet (Philbrick) Johnson and a brother Howard “Grub” Johnson.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday June 10, 2017 at 11 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 101 Norway St., Berlin. Interment will be in the New City Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 10 to 11 AM, prior to the service.
