Donnie Roger Jackson, 68, of Omega passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Greg Hester and the Rev. Larry Wiley officiating. Mr. Jackson will be laid to rest at Omega Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 7, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Josh White, Justin White, Cameron Conger, Chris Conger, Jamie Croy and Josh Hogan will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Jackson, James Jackson and Bobby Erskine.
Born January 26, 1949 in Tift County, Mr. Jackson was the son of Jeanette Jackson and the grandson of Kibby and Ethel Jackson, all of Omega. He was a self-employed truck driver and a member of Liberty Church in Alapaha. He loved his family, his church and driving his semi. He also loved the mountains and fishing in mountain streams, where Cades Cove was his favorite place.
In addition to his mother and grandparents, Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Sandra Marchant Jackson of Omega; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna Jackson Young of Omega, Lisa and Keith White of Tifton, Kathi and Larry Hartsfield of Sumner and Sandy Erskine of Omega; one son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Mindy Palmer of Tifton; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Darlene Griner and Connie McMurphy and Charles Boykin, all of Omega and Wanda and Bobby Ansley of Berlin; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Martha Jane Hooks of Omega.
