James B. Burke, age 92, passed away with family by his side on June 1, 2017. Jim was born, raised, and educated in Dorchester. He served his country in the Army during WWII and upon his return, met his wife and settled in S. Boston where they raised a family together. In retirement Jim and his wife Flavia enjoyed the Florida Sun for 25 years and, more recently, have lived in Weymouth for the last fifteen years.
James is predeceased by his beloved wife Flavia Burke (Bassill). He is the loving father of James Burke and his significant other Debra Eastman and the late Stephen Burke, cherished grandfather of Kelli Burke, devoted brother to Marie McIntyre of FL, and the late Francis Burke, Dorothy Ziniti, and Virginia McCarthy. Jim is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Jim on June 6, 2017 from 5-7pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth, MA. A service celebrating Jim’s life will take place immediately following the visiting hours at 7pm.
