Obituary

Philip E. Riley, 83, of Walpole died June 2 in his home following a long illness. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Penza) Riley for the past 62 years.

Born in Portland, Maine, November 26, 1933, the son of the late Timothy and Mary (Coppinger) Riley, Mr. Riley was raised in South Portland, Maine and had lived in Walpole for the past 56 years.

Mr. Riley had been a painter at Norwood Hospital for many years before retiring.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Philip E. Riley, Jr. of Natick, James P. Riley of Walpole, Pamela J. Buckley of Naples, Florida, John F. Riley of Wrentham and Mary Ellen Plaut of Rehoboth.

He is also survived by his siblings, Eileen Conley of South Portland, Maine, Mary O’Brien of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, James Riley of South Portland, Maine, Julia Riley - Sr. Mary Brigid of Framingham, and John Riley of New Jersey. He was the brother of the late Ann, Patrick and Joseph.

He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Michael, Melissa, Matthew, Kaela and Jesse and his great-grandson Connor.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 6 from the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 892 Main Street, Walpole at 9:15 followed by a funeral mass in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, South Walpole.

Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
