Edmund F. Oliver, 98, of Mystic died Thursday, May 25, 2017. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Doris Morin Oliver, who died in 2016. He was born on January 27, 1919, the son of Frank and Ella May (Harney) Oliver.
Ed worked at the U.S. Subase in Groton during World War II and retired after 30 years from Dow Chemical in Gales Ferry. He served as Deacon at the Union Baptist Church in Mystic. He was an avid downhill skier. He was a talented in construction and built his own home, his father-in-law's retirement home, and a ski camp in Vermont.
He is survived by his two children, Patricia Gainsley and Kenneth Oliver, grandchildren John Gainsley, Christine Gainsley, Katharine Oliver, and Patrick Oliver, and great grandchildren Logan and Jason Gainsley.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Monday, June 5, at 10:00am at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. Interment in Elm Grove Cemetery will be private for the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
