Obituary

Ray H. Field, 69, of Methuen, passed away after a short battle with adrenal cancer on May 30, 2017 surrounded by his loving and devoted family at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

Ray was born on May 12, 1948 to Albert and Annie (Kegerreis) Field in Lebanon County, PA. Ray graduated from Lebanon Valley High School in Lebanon, PA. Shortly after graduating from high school, Ray served a nearly three decades to the United States Armed Forces. He retired honorably 28 years later as a Master Sergeant. While balancing life as a father, husband, military reservist and fulltime employee, Ray knew the importance of a higher education. He attended evening classes at UMass Lowell and graduated with the Class of 1981. Ray worked for nearly fifty years as a nuclear rigger for the United States Navy at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, in which he was a member of Local Iron Worker’s 745. Shortly before discharge from active duty, he married his sweetheart, Priscilla (Budenas) in a church ceremony in Lawrence, MA on October 11, 1970. Ray and his wife settled in Methuen to raise their six children, a true family man. He was a man who was known for being very creative and extremely talented with his mind and hands. He single handedly built the family home and immensely enjoyed every moment of it. Ray was the type of fellow who was very generous with his time and knowledge. Ray enjoyed his chickens, ducks & goose along with gardening. Ray found solace with being on the water. He touched many lives and will truly be missed.

Ray is survived by his loving and devoted wife Priscilla Field of Methuen, with whom he celebrated 46 years of marriage. He was the cherished father to his six children; his daughter, Nicole "Nikki" M. Doherty of Goffstown, NH, his son, Ray "JJ" H. Field, Jr. of Methuen, MA, his daughter, Kristen R.
