Thomas Mercuri, age 90 of Methuen passed away suddenly surrounded by his loving family on May 24, 2017 at the Holy Family Hospital. Thomas was born in Grotteria, Calabria, Italy on August 29, 1926 to the late James and Maria (Mazzaferro) Mercuri. For 32 years, Thomas worked as a custom tailor at The Andover Shop. Prior to working at The Andover Shop, he worked at several local clothing shops, where he will be remembered as a very kind and hard worker. Thomas was a proud Korean War Veteran.
Thomas was the beloved husband of Teresa (Nicoletti) Mercuri with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Rosemary Dickinson and her husband Scott, and Dr. James Mercuri and his wife Peggy. Thomas was the dear brother of the late Francesca Mesiti, and the late Anthony Mercuri. He was the loving grandfather of Rebecca Dickinson, Gina Mercuri, and Ben Dickinson. Thomas is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Per the Family’s request, calling hours will be private. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Monica’s Parish, 212 Lawrence St. Methuen. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery of Methuen. In lieu of flowers, donations in Thomas’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
