Age 49 of Oakdale, formerly of Dyersville, IA and Hudson, WI
Passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, on May 24, 2017, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Survived by wife Shirley (nee Roelke), son Nick and daughter Abbey. Also survived by parents Ronald and Nancy Barone of Blackhawk, SD; sisters Tina (Tom) Patrick; Emily (Peter) Battis; Kate (Tony) Scotino; Sarah (Tristan) Emond; and, Carrie Barone. One brother Joe (Anna) Barone, and many nieces and nephews. John grew up in Dyersville, Iowa and graduated from Beckman High School. He attended Loras College in Dubuque, then received his law degree in 1994 from Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, MN. He worked as an Associate Attorney at Lommen Abdo law firm in Hudson, WI, until 2005 when he moved to his true calling of wealth management at Wells Fargo, first as a Senior Strategist and then Senior Director of Planning. John loved nothing more than getting out on his boat on the St. Croix, camping and canoeing in the Boundary Waters, and trips to the Minnesota North Shore and Disney World with his family. He enjoyed learning and practicing Jiu-Jitsu. He was an avid outdoors and car enthusiast and photographer. He put his whole heart into everything he did - his family and friends, his work and his hobbies. We will deeply miss his love of researching everything, trying and making new craft beers, and his love of ‘80s hair metal and live music.
