Obituary

Stanley “Beans” Slavick passed away at the age of 92 at Golden Living Oak Hill in Middleboro on May 22, 2017. Stanley was born in Taunton on September 12, 1924, the son of Lawrence and Louise (Stys) Slavick. A life long resident of East Taunton, Stanley attended Taunton schools and graduated from Coyle High School in 1943. A star athlete at Coyle in basketball and football he excelled on the diamond as a left handed pitcher. He was inducted into the Coyle-Cassidy Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He excelled in baseball, football and basketball and was a member of the basketball team that won the Army First Command championship. He played minor league baseball in Georgia and Florida. He worked at the TMLP for many years until his retirement. An avid sports fan, he and his late sister Helen were very familiar faces at most high school sporting events in the area. Stanley is survived by his brother-in-law Stanley Baran of Raynham, his nieces Jane Hoffman of Hadley, Barbara Ferreira of Raynham, Beverly Mongeau of Harwich, Cynthia Baran of Brewster, and a nephew Paul Baran of Taunton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church in East Taunton on Tuesday, May 30th at 11:00 a.m. Visiting hours will be prior to the Mass from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
