Obituary

Gregory D. Corser, age 72, a former longtime Chelsea resident, died peacefully, early Saturday morning, May 20, 2017, at home in Natick.

Born, raised and educated in Great Barrington, he was a son of the late Donald and Eleanor (Carter) Corser. Greg was a 1962 graduate of Searles High School and had enjoyed attending his 50th class reunion held at Monument Mountain Regional High School five years ago.

Greg had continued his education at a mechanical engineering school on Long Island. He then moved to Boston to work with Boeing when the company still serviced all of its own aircraft. Greg became employed with the United States Gypsum Corporation where he worked for over thirty years until the time of his retirement in 2004.

A true gentleman who projected an aura of assured calm, the soft-spoken Greg would often remind his children not to “holler” if their voices were raised. He had a great affinity for nature and love of long walks to quiet places to observe the birds and land animals off the beaten path. His placidity was such that, to the surprise of many, the creatures around him seemed to accept his presence unconditionally. When he was no longer able to go on long walks, he paid special attention to his bird feeders and communed with the creatures in the yard as often as possible.

Greg was a wonderfully caring father who exhibited consistency, patience and structure with his children. He was a bit of a science buff who often seized the moment for an educational experience. Greg remained very involved though out their adult lives, with weekly visits and shared a mutual affection and admiration with all of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Allan Corser of Woburn; three daughters, Susan Friot, Marlene M. Garcia and her husband Jorge, and Michelle Coppola and her husband Paolo, with whom he made is home for the past eight years, all of Natick; stepdaughter Jennifer Randall, his two sisters, Linda Persch of Alabama and Cheryl Corser of Springfield; nine grandchildren, James MacDonald, Daryl Coppola, Alexander Azevedo, Brandi Lawskowsky, Marissa Lawskowsky, Monique Friot, Junior Recinos, Domenic Coppola, and Vincent Recinos; eight great-grandchildren, Giada, Cassidy, Jasmiya, James, Jahziel, Lorenzo, Jonathan, and Elliana; and many loving nieces, nephews and their families.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a service of remembrance at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Friday, May 26th at 1:00P.M. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, 4 – 8P.M. Burial will be private.
