Manuel P. deMatos, age 66 of Taunton, passed away on Sunday evening, May 21, 2017 at his daughter’s home in Middleboro.
He was the beloved husband of the late Lourdes Fatima (deRosa) deMatos.
Manuel was born in Faial, Azores, the son of the late Manuel and Luisa (Silveira) deMatos.
Before retirement, Mr. deMatos was employed with Rennie’s Curtain Factory until its closing and later was employed with both Eureka and Reed & Barton.
Manuel enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was a communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church and a member of Ward 5 Holy Ghost.
Mr. deMatos is survived by his children, Kenneth deMatos and his wife Diane of Taunton, Danny deMatos, Sandy Valcorba and her husband Steven all of Middleboro. He was the brother of Fernando deMatos, Joseph deMatos, Maria Pelletier all of Taunton and Fernanda Almada of Bridgewater, he was also the loving grandfather of Christopher, Amanda, Brandon, Xavier, Issac and Ethan.
Manuel’s funeral with visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 9 am, with a funeral service to begin at 10 am in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) in Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
