Laconia-----Mary Alice (Tefft) Kapplain, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center , Laconia.
Mary was born on January 31, 1931 in Lakeport the daughter of the late Harold and Callista (Oswell) Tefft. She attended Laconia Schools and graduated from Laconia School of Nursing in 1952. She met and married Edward William Kapplain in 1956, moved to Newtonville, Massachusetts and started a family. After the sudden passing of Edward in 1971, the family moved to Needham where Mary continued her dedicated Nursing Career at Glover Memorial, retiring in 1985 to New Hampshire.
Mary like the ocean, shelling, gardening, and refinishing furniture.
Mary is survived by her children, William Edward Sr., Laural Anne, Elise Marie, Jonathan Edward, Douglas Carter and Maribeth Leslie; a sister Patricia Ryan; a sister-in-law Diane Tefft; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Edward William Kapplain, brother, Harold E. Tefft and brother-in-law Robert Ryan.
A private ceremony was held at Bayside Cemetery, Laconia.
