Robert W. Duarte, 71 of New Bedford died May 18, 2017 unexpectedly at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of the late Elizabeth M. (Hardin) Duarte.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Alphonse Duarte and Rose (DeValles) Dart, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Duarte enjoyed music and played bass in several local bands. He was an avid sports fan of the New England Patriots, Boston RedSox, Boston Burins and the Boston Celtics.
He enjoyed the company of his dog Chico.
Survivors include 2 sons, Robert W. Duarte, II and Peter Duarte, both of New Bedford; 4 daughters, Deborah Prescott of Schenectady, NY, Laurie Duarte, Melanie Duarte and Tara Duarte, all of New Bedford; a brother, Eric Dart of Connecticut; a sister, Brenda Corrie of Dartmouth; his companion, Sandra Smith of New Bedford; 15 grandchildren, Melissa, Tori, Trey, Brittany, Briana, Timothy, Mariah, Mackenzie, Jordan, Ariana, Ayvah, Jadiel, Natasha, Javien and Neylani; 7 great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jovon, Kevin, Julien, Nassai, Avery and Robert; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Alphonse Duarte.
His funeral services will be private.
