Damaso Antonio "Tony" Colasante of Malden died on Thursday, May 18. Born and raised in Pretoro, Italy, he was the son of the late Pietro and Serafina (Palladino) Colasante. Damaso came to the U.S. in 1954, settling in Boston's North End before moving to Malden in the early 1960's.
Damaso was the beloved husband of the late Erminia "Emma" (Rico) Colasante, and the devoted father of Serafina Tassi and her husband Richard of Saugus. He was the loving grandfather of Marisa Tassi, and the cherished brother of Antonietta Filoso and her late husband Charles of Canada, Angelo Colasante and his wife Dina of Reading, Giuseppina Bassi and her late husband Vincenzo of Medford, Concetta D'Urbano and her husband Nicolo of Switzerland, and Assunta Lapenna and her husband Sorrentino of Italy. Damaso was the brother-in-law of Gabriel Venturo of Melrose and his late wife Rose, the late Rocco Ricco and his surviving wife Anna of Medford, the late Sam Rico and his late wife Catherine, and the late Concetta Rico. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Monday, May 22 at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with entombment at Woodlawn Community Mausoleum, Everett. Visiting hours Sunday, May 21, from 4 through 8 PM.
