NATICK: Ruth E. (Fraser) Mahoney, age 93, a longtime resident of Natick, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday evening, May 17, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. Mahoney, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.
Born in Newton and raised in Waltham, she was the daughter of the late Murdoch S. and Josephine (Howland) Fraser. She was predeceased by her 10 siblings. She and Robert were married in 1948 and raised their family in Natick.
Ruth was lovingly devoted to her family, and she derived the most pleasure from the active role she played in raising her grandchildren. She remained in her family home through her grandchildren’s young lives, and her house was always full of loved ones. The mother of the late Maureen White and Michael Mahoney; Ruth will be missed by three daughters, Kathy von der Heyde and her husband Kelvin of Weston, Colleen Wells of Weston, and Tricia St. Martin and her husband Paul of Natick; a son, Timothy Mahoney and his wife Kate of Sandwich; her 12 grandchildren, Randy, Michelle, Leif, Tracy, Courtney, Bobby, Eric, Tim, Brennan, Emily, Megan, and Liam; seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street in Natick, on Monday, May 22nd at 9:00AM with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Patrick’s Church at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery.
