New York, NY – Teresa Abreu, age 65 of New York, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at home. She was the beloved daughter of the late Maria Jose (Gouveia) and Jose Abreu.
Teresa was born in New Bedford; she moved to New York in 1974 and has lived there ever since. She worked as a bookkeeper for various movie and television production companies until her retirement.
She is survived by several sisters; M. Adelaide Abreu of New Bedford; Luciana Langlois of New Bedford; Maria “Izzy" Conway of New Bedford, Natalia Frechette of Florida, Irene Souza of Dartmouth; a brother; Leonard Abreu of New Bedford as well as several nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. Theresa was also the sister of the late Antonio Abreu, Madelene Raucci, Maria McKinley and Mary "Phyliss" Soares.
Her funeral will be Monday beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M.
