Obituary


Alfred W. Baptista, Sr. age 93, passed away on May 16, 2017 at Golden Living Center of Middleboro. He was the beloved husband of the late Edith May (Pine) Baptista.

Alfred was born in Taunton a son of the late Perry and Anna (Faria) Baptista.

Alfred proudly served his country during WWII with the Army , he was awarded with the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.

Mr. Baptista worked many years as a window dresser for New York Lace store before retiring in 1985.
He enjoyed fishing, coloring and spending time with his loving family.

Mr. Baptista is survived by his children, Alfred W. Baptista, Jr. and his wife Lorraine, Robert A. Baptista and his wife Sharon all of Taunton and Alan R. Baptista , Nancy A. Gifford and her longtime companion Mark Morais of Bourne, a sister Margaret Lortie and her husband Roland of Carver; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Mildred Baptista, and was predeceased by his late son-in-law Clayton Gifford.

Alfred’s funeral with visitation will be held Monday, May 22, 2017 at 10 am with a service to begin at 11am in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at St. Mary’s Square) in Taunton.

Interment with full military honors will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne MA

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Alfred’s memory made to; Disabled American Veterans PO Box 57, Taunton MA 02780, would be deeply appreciated.
