Obituary

Dr. Robert A. Moore, of Mashpee, passed on to glory on Sunday, February 5, 2017. He leaves behind his children, Jeff Moore of Holliston, and Mary Scalli of Spring, TX; his three grandchildren, Lindsey and Charles Moore and Jonathan Scalli; his daughter-in-law Carol Moore and son-in-law, James Scalli; his brother and sister-in-law, George and Rosemary Moore of West Caldwell, NJ, and their three children, Lesley, Scott and Steven Moore; his sister-in-law, Jean Rosseau of Sherborn, niece Laurie Flowers of Marblehead; and nephew, Todd Rosseau of Newburyport.

Bob was born to Joseph and Frances Moore and raised in Teaneck, NJ, with a childhood dream to become a veterinarian. Upon graduation from Teaneck High School, he earned a degree in Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University. Bob married his college sweetheart, Jane Purdy, on July 18, 1959 in East Aurora, NY, and they were blessed with two children whom they raised in Walden, NY. Dr. Moore loved serving his clients in Walden and the surrounding areas for 40 years at Walden Animal Clinic, which he had founded and grown into a very successful practice.

Bob and Jane were very involved in Goodwill Presbyterian Church and then later were founders of Mid-Hudson Christian Church. Both Bob and Jane loved to study the Bible and teach anyone who wanted to do in-depth Bible study. They also had huge hearts for ministries and helping those in need. Bob served on the Board of the Walter Hoving Home for several years and was an active prison ministry volunteer for Prison Fellowship International. Bob also loved sports of any kind and being outdoors in the fresh air - skiing with his kids, sailing, golfing, running and working out.

After selling their veterinary practice in 1996, Bob and Jane retired to Poultney, VT where they built their dream house on Lake St Catherine. In 2008 they relocated to Mashpee, MA to be closer to their children. They became very involved in the Osterville Baptist Church (OBC) and loved and appreciated all the new friends that they met there. Bob handled his long battle with dementia with dignity and grace. He lost his beloved Jane to lung cancer three years ago. He will be missed by his family and many dear friends, but they are thankful that he is at peace and no longer suffering. Bob was a very humble and quiet man who left behind an incredible legacy for his children and grandchildren to follow.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life at the Osterville Baptist Church, 824 Main Street, Osterville, on Saturday, May 20th, at 2:00p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Harvest International Preparation Ministries (HPIM) 455 Interstate Court, Suite B, Sarasota, FL 34240. Please indicate the fund for On Point Leadership Development Ministry.
