Obituary

FRAMINGHAM: Harriet A. (Hookailo) MacLean died peacefully in the care and comfort of her loving and devoted husband and family on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Boston the loving and caring daughter of the late Manuel S. Hookailo and Irene (Datz) Hookailo.
Harriet is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Charles M. MacLean of Framingham. Devoted mother of Lisa G. Barker and her husband Michael of Worcester and Andrew P. Susan of Framingham.
Harriet was the cherished Aunt of Terri Roberts and her husband Tad of Holliston and their children MacLean, Clifford, and Keira Harriet; Sandra Horne and her husband Kenneth of Framingham; Samantha Beard and her husband Eric of Natick and their children Abigail, Duncan and Liam; Sarah Mauro and her husband Brian of New York and their children Amanda and Nicholas; Robin Trovato of Sudbury and her children Kendall, Brendan, Matthew and Jessica; Jonathan LaPierre of Boston; William Scanlon and his wife Theresa of Framingham and their children Craig, Stephanie and Kelsie; Jeffrey Dame of Natick and his children Kyle, Karyssa and Meg; Matthew Dame and his wife Alicia of Billerica and their children Isaac and Isadora. She was the kind and caring sister-in-law of Jane LaPierre of Sudbury, Maureen Dame of Natick and John MacLean of Holliston.
Harriet and Charlie began a beautiful love story many years ago with a strong commitment and love for each other that anyone who met them could see. They were each other’s source of joy, laughter, love and comfort. They embodied the meaning of true love.
Harriet was a proud graduate of Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester. She spent a lot of time with her friends going to Nantasket Beach, the G & G Deli and the Hecht House. She has been a resident of Framingham for 57 years. She did volunteer work at Framingham Union Hospital and volunteered with the Metco Program as well as volunteered with Special Children in the Framingham, Natick and Newton Schools. She had a career in the field of law serving as a legal secretary for Judge Kolodny, Attorney Andrew Rogers and her husband before retiring.
Harriet had many friends whom she loved and enjoyed sharing her unique sense of humor with. Those friends include Marilyn, Beverly, Jane and Carol. Harriet loved to shop, cook and shop some more. She truly enjoyed traveling with Charlie and her family throughout her life. Her most favorite trip was her honeymoon to China, Hong Kong and Hawaii and enjoyed her many visits to her second home, Aruba. Harriet was a hostess who thoroughly prepared her meals, the presentation from the appetizers to the desserts. Her culinary expertise was not only for family and friends but for her beloved pets as well. She loved to spoil everyone that she met and her husband, children and family were the center of her life. She enjoyed all people and will be fondly remembered by everyone as a beautiful, fashionable and thoughtful woman. She will be missed, never forgotten and always loved.
Her family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 on Sunday, May 21, 2017 followed by a memorial service at 3:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Wayland.
In lieu of flowers, her family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in Harriet’s memory be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
