Obituary

WORCESTER – Richard P. Quinn, 74, died peacefully on Fridday, April 28, 2017 at UMass Memorial Healthcare, Worcester following an illness.
Richard was born in Cambridge, a son of the late Edward M. and Mary B. (Finnegan) Quinn and was raised in South Boston and Watertown. Richard proudly served as a member of the United States Marine Corps and later, the United States Army. Richard worked for many years as a broiler chef for the former Vallee’s Steakhouse in Newton and later worked as a chef for the Marriott Hotel in Auburndale. Richard then began working in the security department of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant, Plymouth for several years. He also served as a special police officer for the Town of Nantucket for several summers, retiring in 1985. He was a longtime member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4311 of Worcester as well as the Eagles Aerie 4541 of Leicester / Spencer. He enjoyed travelling, especially to Aruba. Richard was an avid New England sports fan, especially enjoying cheering on the Patriots and Red Sox.
He will be lovingly missed by his wife and companion of more than 15 years, Mary Farr-Quinn; his three children, Douglas Kenneth Quinn of and Mary Alice Quinn, both of Plymouth and Timothy Patrick Quinn of Minnesota; his sister, Mary Daignault of Saxonville; his four grandchildren, Cameron Patrick Barry, Coen Quinn Kennedy and Riley Michelle Kennedy, and Makenna Mae Quinn. He was predeceased by his three brothers, James, Robert and Paul Quinn and by his three sisters, Rose Dezotelle, Theresa Morrisey and Ann Quinn.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Rich’s family during a celebration of his life on Thursday, June 1st from 6-11 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club of Worcester, 53 Norfolk Street, Worcester. Memorial donations may be sent to Veteran’s Inc, 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605. Arrangements are under the care of the CALLAHAN, FAY & CASWELL FUNERAL HOME of Worcester.
