Obituary

Eleanor (Haaland) Harrison, 91, of Acton died on Monday, May 8, 2017 at the Life Care Center of Acton. She was the beloved wife of Parker Harrison, Jr. since 1952.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on November 2, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Einar and Esther (Johnsen) Haaland. She grew up on Staten Island, New York and attended Mount Holyoke and Hunter Colleges.

Eleanor resided in Acton for most of her adult life, where she raised her family and forged lifelong friendships with neighbors, the Tuttle Drive Gang. She was an elementary school secretary at McCarthy-Towne School in Acton for many years among other occupations, which included drafting and banking. She was extremely proud of her Norwegian heritage and traditions, especially at the holidays, which she passed down to her children and their families. She was an avid gardener and looked forward each spring to attending the Boston Flower and Garden Show. Eleanor also enjoyed doing creative handcrafts, but more importantly loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Her final few years were spent in residence at Life Care Center of Acton where she thrived and was loved by many.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Parker Harrison, III of Manchester, MA and Rob Harrison and his wife Mary of Amesbury, a daughter Carole Bernstein of Medway and five grandchildren, Taylor, Derrek, Wesley, Alyssa and Emily.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Her Life at the Medway Community Church, 193 Main Street in Medway on Saturday, July 8th at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be made in her memory to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
