Obituary



James M. Kovalski age 80 of Brockton, died Sunday May 7, 2017 at his home under the care of his wife and family. He was the devoted husband of Sandra Waugh. James was born and raised in Boston a son of the late Walter and Catherine (Scannell) Kovalski. He had lived primarily in Brockton since 1964.

While in high school, James started working at Stop & Shop super markets and remained with the company for 64 years. During the Korean War he served in the US Marine Corp. He enjoyed fishing, playing darts and loved watching soccer games.

James will be remembered as a very smart man who was a warm and caring, funny and an all-around nice guy. He also loved his cats.

In addition to his wife Sandra he leaves his daughters Stacey Fruzzetti of Hyannis and Robin Kovalski of Lakeville and a step-son Kenneth Soucy of Brockton. He was the brother of Joseph Kovalski of Arlington, John Kovalski of Dorchester and the late Walter Kovalski. He also leaves 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours are omitted. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday May 15 at 9am in St. Edith Stein Church 631 N. Main St., Brockton. Donations in James’ name may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
