Peter E. Bent, age 71,of Mansfield, formerly of North Attleboro, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Sandra (Mitchell) Bent, whom he was wed on February 21, 1966.
Born in Boston, MA on December 8, 1945, he was a loving son of the late Edson Bent and Elaine (Farrell) Conlon.
Peter grew up and was educated in the Brighton section of Boston, as well as Newton. During the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps.
Mr. Bent was the retired proud owner of Crown Coach, a livery service he operated in Foxboro for several years. In the 1960’s and 1970’s, he worked as an EMT in Boston.
Peter was a life member of the DAV and also a member of the Marine Corps League. His favorite times were those with family and grandchildren. He loved taking day trips to Cape Cod, was an avid reader and enjoyed watching movies.
In addition to his beloved wife of fifty-one years, he is survived by his devoted sons Michael and his wife Stefanie of Cumberland, RI and Shawn and his wife Kimberly of Huntington Beach, CA. He is also survived by his treasured grandchildren Matthew, Christopher and Kylie.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend funeral services with military honors on Saturday, May 20th at 5:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will be held privately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Visitation will be held prior to the services on Saturday beginning at 3:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
