Obituary

Joan G. (Monaghan) Savarino, of Malden passed away peacefully on May 8, 2017. She was 81 years old.

Joan was the beloved wife of the late Louis J. Savarino. She was the loving mother of Laurie Savarino of Malden, Stephen Savarino and his wife Charlotte of PA, Tami Hancock and her husband John of Malden, and Louis Savarino Jr. and his wife Christine of Lexington. Joan was the dear sister of the late Elizabeth Prince and Shirley Neumyer. She was the sister in-law of Rita Anderson, Dorothy Cannata, Anna Travis, and the late Eleanor Fermano, Antonio Bernardini, Beatrice Barrett, Vincent Savarino, and Jean Bonito. Joan was the cherished grandmother of Jason and Alyssa Savarino, Nicholas Savarino, Elaina, Siena, and Sophia Hancock and Louis Savarino III and the great-grandmother of Zachery, Daiven, Kason, Elijah Tomic, and George Leather, She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Joan was devoted to her family. She enjoyed long summer days at Lake Shore Park on Lake Winnipesaukee surrounded by her children, grandchildren and friends. She and her husband Lou were often found walking their beloved dog Daisy on Scenic Drive. She was also devoted to her work as office manager at Middlesex Cardiology Associates before her retirement.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Hearts Church 297 Main Street, Malden on Friday May 12th at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment of ashes will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
