Obituary

Grovetown, GA---Mr. Leonard Colden “Tubby” James, Sr., 79, went to his heavenly home on May 7, 2017 at University Hospital.

He was the loving husband of 57 years to Doris G. James.

He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church, in Matthews, GA, where he had served as a Deacon and adult Sunday School teacher. He had retired from Thermal Ceramics.

He loved to preserve fruits and pass them out to friends and family. He loved his wood crafting and he took great joy in playing with his grandchildren.
For several years, he enjoyed B B Q ing for his family reunions. He never met a stranger.

Leonard is also survived by his son, Leonard James, Jr. (Lisa) and his daughter, Traci McElhaney (Thomas), his sisters, Virginia Carlisle (Leon) and Patsy Copeland (Ken) and four grandchildren, Matthew McElhaney, Joshua McElhaney, Kayla James and Joseph Kennedy and two great grandchildren, Kinleigh and Colden McElhaney.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in the Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Road Chapel with Reverend George James, Reverend Tony Key and Reverend Tony Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Road.
