Lorraine (Ninan) Holm, formerly of Derry, NH passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 3, 2017 at St. Theresa’s Manor in Manchester, NH. She was born in Manchester, a daughter of the late James D. and Eva (Nadeau) Ninan. Mrs. Holm resided in Derry for over 50 years before moving to Albany, NY, Londonderry, NH and then settling back in Londonderry. Mrs. Holm was raised in Derry where she graduated from grade school and Pinkerton Academy, Class of 1944. She served as the lifetime secretary of her class.
Mrs. Holm was a communicant of Church of the Transfiguration where she served as a pledge clerk for twenty-five years and was chairman of the Christmas Fairs for many years. She also served as the President of St. Anne’s Society, was a member and served as the Treasurer of the Alter Guild Society for twenty-five years and was an active member of the Mabel Haslam Guild Society. She enjoyed knitting patterned sweaters for her skier family and was a craft person who made many items for her family, friends and church fairs. She served as President of the American Legion Lester Chase Post #9 in Derry and the NH State Degree Team.
Mrs. Holm enjoyed working for Mrs. Hyman Gross at the Women’s Shop as a Clerk Bookkeeper and Bartlett and Shepard Insurance Agency for many years as a Secretary-Clerk. She also worked for Barlow Flower Shop for 21 years, until the age of 70, as a secretary Bookkeeper.
She married the love of her life Bernard S. Holm, and together they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and continued until their 61st year when Bernard passed away on February 29, 2004.
Her family includes one daughter, Cory Holm of Londonderry; and two grandsons, Mark J. Matarozzo and Sue Danner of Rochester, NH, and Brian Matarozzo and his wife Amy of Londonderry; as well as several much loved nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a graveside service was held on Monday, May 8th at 2:00pm in the Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pinkerton Academy Alumni Assoc., 5 Pinkerton St., Derry, NH 03038.
