Judita L. (DeSousa) DeSousa, age 85, of Taunton, passed away on May 1, 2017 at Life Care Center of Raynham. Judita was born in Ponta Ruiva das Flores, Azores, a daughter of the late Antonio L. and Maria Freitas DeSousa.
She was the beloved wife of the late Diniz A. DeSousa. She is survived by her five children, Edite Lavault and husband Paul, Jose Antonio (Tony) Sousa and his longtime girlfriend Cathy, Maria Livonia Sousa, Jose Dinis (Dennis) DeSousa and his wife Deb, Johnny Joseph Sousa and his wife Lynn. Judita is the twin to the late David L. DeSousa of Taunton and sister to Antonio L. DeSousa, Jr. of Portugal and the Adelina Avelar of Portugal and the lates Jose L. Desousa, Leopoldina L. Chibante, Joao L. DeSousa, Serafim L. DeSousa, Maria N. Cetano, Maria L. Corvelo, Fernando L. DeSousa, and Antonio. L. DeSousa. Judita had three grandchildren, Lindsey Conlon, Brandon Clay Sousa and Jeffrey Allen Medeiros Jr. as well as a great grandson Parker William Deneault. Judita also had many nieces and nephews.
Judita came to America to make a better life for her family, arriving in California in 1966 until 1979 when she moved to Massachusetts. Judita was employed with Texas Instruments for 14 years before retiring. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking and was very devoted to her family.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 in The Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) in Taunton from 9:00am – 11:00 am with a funeral home service to begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
