Obituary

Samuel (Sam) Antonellis, 89, of Whitman, Massachusetts died peacefully on April 30 at the Life Care Center in Raynham, Massachusetts after a lengthy illness.

Born in Roslindale, Massachusetts in 1927 to the late John Antonellis and the late Anna (Jeriputo) Antonellis. Brother of the late Mary (Antonellis) Perfetuo and the late Frances (Antonellis) Hebert.

Sam grew up in Quincy, Weymouth and Rockland. He graduated from Rockland High School in 1948 and was an Army veteran who served during the Korean War conflict. He moved to Whitman in 1958 and resided there for 59 years. He was a custodian for many years at Angelo’s Supermarket and later Purity Supreme in Whitman.

Sam loved to putz around his yard and grow flowers and vegetables. He was a member of several bowling leagues at the former Carlyle Bowling Alley in Whitman. Sam was an avid Boston sports fan who loved watching the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

He is survived by daughter Marilyn Antonellis of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and two grandsons, Joshua Mangan of Sunderland, Massachusetts and the late Thomas Mangan.

A ceremony and burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 11:30 a.m.
