Obituary

SALEM – Marilyn E. (Toomey) Fallon, 67, of Peabody, wife of Peter J. Fallon, died Friday morning, April 28, 2017 at her residence with her husband at her side.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Emma (Cadoret) Toomey. She was a graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School in 1967 and the Massachusetts College of Art in 1971.

After graduation, she worked as a graphic designer at Houghtin Mifflin and DC Heath publishing companies . Marilyn taught adult education in Salem and Peabody and gave art lessons to many children of the Salem Willows neighborhood. She had won Best of Show twice at the Marblehead Arts Festival and her art works are held in many public and private collections throughout the United States. Marilyn was a professional artist, who exhibited at galleries in Marblehead, Salem, Boston, Palm Beach and Wellington Florida and Del Mar, California.

Marilyn was an equestrienne who rode daily whether it was in Ipswich, MA or Wellington, Florida. She was known for riding dressage on her Lippizan stallions Barouk and RA. Marilyn specialized in oil and graphite animal portraits and floral watercolors. She was a member of the American Academy of Equine Artists, the Marblehead Arts Association, the Wellington Art Society and the Juniper Community Club.

Besides her husband, with whom she shared 47 years of marriage, she leaves two brothers, William J. Toomey of Wallingford, CT, Timothy A. Toomey of Rowley, two nephews, Andrew Toomey and Charlie Toomey, both of Rowley.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2017, from 4 to 7 pm at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
